24/11/10 - Proposed re-location of Stapleford Walk-In Centre
A review of two Nottinghamshire Walk-In Centres is being carried out by NHS Nottinghamshire County. One of these is the Stapleford Walk-In Centre. The preferred option of the clinical team is to re-locate this service, adjacent to the A&E department at the Queens Medical Centre. This Walk-In facility treats approx. 22,000 people per annum, with 85% of those having their treatment completed on their first visit. This centre is valued by the people of Stapleford and the surrounding area, and I am opposing closure.
Please put your thoughts forward via the NHS consultation document, which is available online for 100 days from 1st November 2010. There is also a Facebook campaign on the issue, and a Liberal Democrat petition against the closure, which you might like to sign.
5/11/10 - County Council meeting 21 October
At the Council meeting on 21st October, Brian voted against the Council's proposed spending cuts. He delivered a speech [23KB] to outline his concerns about cuts to service areas such as Welfare Rights, schools, voluntary sector, scrutiny, mental health, highways maintenance and Supporting People.
Brian's latest Councillors’ Divisional Fund awards
Each County Councillor has an annual fund of £10,000 to support worthy initiatives in their division. Councillors can use their CDF to identify projects, clubs, events and people that work hard in their local area but often lack access to resources.
Please contact Brian if you know of a deserving initiative in Bramcote or Stapleford that might be eligible for a grant.
Here are a few examples of funding Brian has recently provided:
-
£1,488 to St. Johns Ambulance (Stapleford and Sandiacre), for a CPR and trauma moulage kit
-
£1,500 to Bramcote and Stapleford Golden Jubilee group, for the Hemlock Happening
-
£750 to Stapleford Gateway club, towards running costs of a group for disabled adults
-
£500 to Stapleford Youth and Community centre, to fund equipment for the group
You can also download a full list of awards granted in 2009/10 [pdf 19KB].
